Hi!
How are you all? My time in Nashville was very effective and went very fast.
I still do not like to fly, I feel like cattle being loaded and unloaded, except one does not
feed cows peanuts and cokes for food!
BACK TO THE TRIP!
Just to keep things organized (what a concept) I arrived late Thursday night and because of Doug Matthews’s kindness, flew first class for the first time in my life. That was much more comfortable.
The next morning, I met with Steven K. Brown, and his wonderful wife & partner, MaryRobin Brown MaryRobin is a very talented, experienced singer, performer and vocal coach in her own right. They are very precious, kind, direct people, and Steven K. Brown and I signed a MANAGEMENT CONTRACT WITH SOUTHSTAR RECORDS.
. I trust him, and I trust MaryRobin. We sat some career goals, and then visited a while. Then, both of them had to be off for preparing for the studio the next day. I rested and cooled out from my trip to be fresh for Saturday.
On Saturday.
The Studio Band consisted of the following players: Pat Seevers, from Pirates of the Mississippi; Bill Farrai on lead guitar and steel; Rick McClure from Grand Ole Opry House Band; Dennis Burnside who has done keys & organ for everyone…Brooks & Dunn, etc. Mike Pfunter, Engineer and main board man. The one thing I can truly say is that all of these men were wonderful, kind, easy and patient!
The background vocalist was unbelievable. She has worked full time as a professional in music since 13. I watched her “become me” as far as phrasing. She built a “wall of sound” for “Let the River Run”. I will count myself fortunate to work with her again. Steven K. had made the decision, once he heard the songs, to bring her in…and I am grateful!
It was a pleasure meeting and getting an opportunity to know Clyde Brooks, Producer for Curb Records. I enjoyed his insights, and I found him very encouraging.
I returned to my motel room at 9:15 PM, and met my girlhood-singing partner, Joyce Brown-Tarr and her husband of 31 years… Walter and Joyce had to leave the next morning by 11:00 am. Joyce is a beautiful as ever and it was a highlight of my trip to tell stories on her to Walter, and to be with them before they returned to Indianapolis, Indiana.
Sunday.
Joyce, Walter and I had brunch and off they went.
Something told me to get a nice skirt and top, and when I picked up my messages, MaryRobin Brown had invited me to attend Rev. Snow’s Sunday night service. It was the topper of a wonderful trip. On the way, Steven K. and Mary Robin asked if I would like to sing at the service. I just happened to have a copy of Steven K.’s version of my song “Steppin’ Up”..(Gospel) and Rev. Snow said it would be fine. In addition, it was a wonderful experience to sing for their congregation.
MaryRobin is the Praise and Worship leader, and Steven K. plays drums…..so it was fun.
Monday.
Up at 6:00am…fuel the rented car, to the airport. And home. Yahoo!
It is exciting to be working with Steven K. and MaryRobin Brown.
Finally, and most important, I would like to thank the many supporters I had for the trip. I thank God for opening the doors and coming through at the “Bottom of the Ninth”.
Further, Mr. & Mrs. Neil and Kathy Isabel; Mr. Doug Matthews. Rev. and Mrs. Albert and Mary Lou Schofield. Mrs. George Schafer, my Mom!
Also, Mr. & Mrs. Joyce and Walter Tarr; Mr. And Mrs. Terry and Suzi Rowan; Dr. Diane Shigley of Advanced Chiropractic; Dr. Lori Honeycut of Absolute Dermatology; Mrs. Yvonne Creppon, who also was the organist and pianist on our Christmas Album last year; ; Ms. Brandy Gonzales; Ms. Norma King; and Jesse Flores.
In closing, I would like to let you know I am going to start an “Artist Share” page on my site. More about that in the future.
With Affection to you all,
jacque
